Circle Jerk: First Review!

8 Nov

Our first review is up and it’s a doozy! Jeremy Gardiner of Jeremy Thinks Things had some truly wonderful things to say. Here’s an excerpt of his glowing review:

For me, seeing Circle Jerk (produced in glorious collaboration by Soup Can Theatre, safeword, and Aim for the Tangent Theatre) was like having the most incredible tantric sex of my life. It titillated, excited, and stimulated me and then left me completely satisfied, satiated, gratified, and full. In the space of two and a half hours, the four one act plays that make up Circle Jerk prove the utter brilliance and supreme skill of the teams that created them.

Circle Jerk: Coming Soon!

13 Oct

Circle Jerk Postcard Front - Draft 1First off, thank you to all of you who submitted original lines of dialogue for our Circle Jerk contest this past summer! We were overwhelmed with the response we got: almost 300 lines to choose from!

We did manage to narrow it down to just four and sent our intrepid playwrights off into the wilderness to write pieces starting and ending with their assigned lines. They have all since emerged from their creative jungles with scripts in hand and are now, along with their daring creative teams, hard at work rehearsing.

We will be posting updates as we get closer to opening night (only 3 weeks away!) but in the mean time, feel free to read up on Circle Jerk, have a look at our delectable photo gallery and maybe even get your tickets early and avoid disappointment later!

Send us your best lines!

10 Aug

Want to see your dialogue on stage? Want to jerk some playwrights around? Soup Can Theatre and safeword want your best line of original dialogue for their upcoming Fall production of ‘Circle Jerk‘: one production, four short back to back plays! Our playwrights will be forced to use selected submissions as the opening and closing lines of their works – how to get from line A to line B is what they’ll need to figure out, and in a hurry! Send your submissions to Circle.Jerk.TO@gmail.com by August 20th. If your line is selected to be included in the production, you will receive two free tickets to the show with reserved VIP seating!

Mayor in the House!

Last night we had a very special guest: former Mayor David Miller (who we might add is a wonderful and enthusiastic audience member)! For those of you who have seen the show (and the story), you can imagine why having him there was ten metric tons of fun for us 🙂
