Sare Thorpe (Director, Producer), they/them: BAH in Theatre from York University. Acting credits (theatre): The Really Real Adventures of Scott Free and Will Do (Solar Stage), Loot (Bygone), Gut Girls (Alumnae), Titus Andronicus (Seven Siblings), Behold, the Barfly! (Spoon Vs. Hammer/TO Fringe/TO SketchFest), Comedy of Errors (Confidential Shakespeare Project), The Loyalists (Single Thread), The Threepenny Opera (Hart House), the Canadian premiere of Bare (Waters Edge), The Nightwood (Luminato), and the inaugural production of Tomson Highway’s Pimooteewin/The Journey, directed by Michael Greyeyes (Soundstreams). Soup Can credits: directing A Christmas Carol (Three Ships Collective 2018-21, supported by Soup Can), Love is a Poverty You Can Sell 1 and 2 (TO Fringe 2010 & 2013, Best of Fringe 2010, Next Stage 2012), No Exit, and Marat/Sade; producing Circle Jerk, A Hand of Bridge/No Exit double bill, and Antigone (TO Fringe 2012). In 2015, Sare wrote, performed in, and co-directed the award-winning solo piece Heretic: a modern retelling of the story of Joan of Arc. Recipient of two Ontario Arts Council grants: through Theatre Ontario for a directing mentorship with Alan Dilworth, and a Recommender Grant (recommended by Volcano Theatre) to co-create a new play, American Traditional, about Maud Wagner: a circus performer who became the first known female tattoo artist in the US in the early 1900s. www.sarahthorpe.net. |
Justin Haigh (Writer, Producer, Designer), he/him: Justin is a graduate of York University’s Film Production and Screenwriting program but has found a happy home in the world of independent theatre. Justin is proud to be one of the founding members of Soup Can Theatre; his credits include Soup Can Theatre’s previous seven productions, Love is a Poverty You Can Sell (Writer/Emcee segment Co-Director/Co-Producer), Marat/Sade (Sound Designer/Set Co-Designer/Co-Producer), Antigone (Co-Producer), A Hand of Bridge / No Exit (Co-Producer, No Exit Dramaturge, Sound Designer, Set Co-Designer), Love is a Poverty You Can Sell 2: Kisses for a Pfennig (Writer/Emcee segment Co-Director/Co-Producer), The Session – part of Circle Jerk (Writer/Director), Heretic (Dramaturge/Co-Producer), and A Christmas Carol (Writer/Co-Producer, The Three Ships Collective supported by Soup Can). Justin has also written for CBC Comedy and is the founder of the Spoon Vs. Hammer comedy collective and the writer-director of their critically acclaimed sketch revue, Behold, the Barfly! |
