Sarah Thorpe is an actor, award-nominated theatre practitioner, and co-founder of Soup Can Theatre. She holds a BAH in theatre from York University, where she also received York’s Mira Friedlander Award for her achievements in theatre writing, criticism, world, and Canadian theatre studies. Acting credits include The Loyalists, Much Ado About Nothing (Single Thread Theatre), Jenny in The Threepenny Opera (UC Follies), Canadian premiere of Bare (WatersEdge Productions), The Nightwood (Luminato), world premiere of Tomson Highway’s Pimooteewin: The Journey (Soundstreams), and commercials for CAMH and OLG. Soup Can credits include directing No Exit, Marat/Sade, the Love is a Poverty You Can Sell cabarets (Toronto Fringe 2010 & 2013, Next Stage Festival 2012), and producing Circle Jerk, A Hand of Bridge, and Antigone (Toronto Fringe 2012). In the Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery’s 2013 season, Sarah gave a presentation on Althea Thauberger’s film installation/documentary Marat Sade Bohnice, about a group of artists who staged a production of Peter Weiss’ Marat/Sade in the Bohnice Psychiatric Hospital in the Czech Republic. Heretic is Sarah’s first play, and premiered at lemonTree creations in April 2015. She’s thrilled to be revisiting it with a fantastic team. @thorpe_s, www.SarahThorpe.net

Scott is a Toronto-based theatre professional. He is a co-founder and Creative Core member of Soup Can Theatre.  He is also the Dora Awards and Youth Outreach Coordinator for the Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts (TAPA).  Scott’s career in theatre thus far encompasses on and off stage roles. He has been a producer for most Soup Can Theatre shows since its inception, as well as having a crack at directing (for Soup Can Theatre and V-Day Toronto) and production managing (Soup Can Theatre and Single Thread Theatre). As an actor, Scott has played in classics, avant-garde multidisciplinary work, clown turns, children’s theatre, murder mysteries and a few short films.  As a recipient of Theatre Ontario’s Professional Theatre Training Program grant in 2013, Scott worked with and was mentored by Aislinn Rose, General Manager of The Theatre Centre.  He has taught introductory theatre courses in GTA-area schools, and ran a theatre camp in Vaughan for two years.  Scott holds a BA in theatre from Queen’s University.

Randy LeeRandy Lee – Lighting Designer
Randy Lee is a York University graduate, majoring in Theatre Production. Previous collaborations with Soup Can Theatre include Circle Jerk, Love is a Poverty You Can Sell 2, A Hand of Bridge/No Exit, Antigone and Marat/Sade. Also a founding member of Fly By Night Theatre Company.

Wesley McKenzie is a lighting, sound and projection designer in the Toronto area. Wesley is excited to be working with the Heretic team. Past theatre credits include: The Fatal Gaze (University of Toronto Opera Division); Three Women Mourn the Apocalypse (Old Norman Productions); Barefoot in the Park and Wait until Dark (Classic Theatre Festival); the marquise of O— and Lulu v.2 // because bad things happen to bad girls (The red light district); Fruit Fruit Mouth Mouth (Illume Collective); KATA (Theatre Parallax); Intangible Trappings (Lester Trips); I was once on Fire (Little Black Afro).

Justin is a graduate of York University’s Film Production and Screenwriting program but has found a happy home in the world of independent theatre. Justin is proud to be one of the founding members of Soup Can Theatre; his credits include Soup Can Theatre’s previous five productions, Love is a Poverty You Can Sell (Writer/Emcee segment Co-Director/Co-Producer), Marat/Sade (Sound Designer/Set Co-Designer/Co-Producer), Antigone (Co-Producer), A Hand of Bridge / No Exit (Co-Producer, No Exit Dramaturge, Sound Designer, Set Co-Designer), Love is a Poverty You Can Sell 2: Kisses for a Pfennig (Writer/Emcee segment Co-Director/Co-Producer), and The Session – part of Circle Jerk (Writer/Director).
Kathleen HemsworthKathleen Hemsworth – Stage Manager
Kathleen is a recent graduate of York University’s Theatre Production Program and excited to be taking part in such a unique show with Soup Can Theatre. She has an annoyingly persistent passion for stage managing and plans to continue in theatre, combining all cultural events with as she pursues a certificate in Event Management from Humber College. Selected stage management credits include Much Ado About Nothing (Single Thread Theatre), Vectors of Their Interest (Surplus Value Theatre), Better Angels (NIF 2014and World Stage Design (Cardiff, Wales 2013).

Julia has been a fan of Soup Can’s work for years and is, frankly, thrilled to be involved with this production. Her past experiences include acting in and co-directing The Vagina Monologues (Bare Oaks Players), singing thrilling and ambitious choral works (Toronto Mendelssohn Choir; Orpheus Choir Toronto), modeling for photographers and art classes alike, and supporting theatre/arts organizations with Front of House operations (Fringe Toronto; Summerworks; TIFF; The Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts). Heretic marks Julia’s first time wearing a Producer’s hat, and she’s pretty sure it won’t be the last.
